The Minneapolis Riverfront is rich with historic significance. Preserving and interpreting the area’s history has been a major part of the city’s redevelopment efforts for the Central Riverfront as historic sites and stories are a significant draw to visitors. In fact, the opportunity to visit historic sites is one of the top four reasons that visitors choose to visit the riverfront area (Saint Anthony Falls Heritage Board, 2009). The Upper River is less well known but is rich with opportunity.
